Kevin Sharp, LVO DL

Kevin, a native of Harrogate, joined West Yorkshire Police at the age of nineteen, serving across West Yorkshire, having a career that saw him involved with the Donald Skepper murder in Harrogate (Black Panther) and two Ripper murders in Leeds.

During his service, Kevin worked on Road Traffic in three ranks and at the Police Driving School, where he covered both student driving courses, lectured on traffic law and advised both the Command Team on traffic law matters and the Government Departments in Marsham Street, who were responsible for traffic law legislation.

Kevin was regularly published by Longmans on matters relating to traffic law and ran table top exercises at Satan Force, Catterick for Senior and Command Team officers, and was himself a trained Bomb Scene Manager, having attended courses at Chatham, Kent

After thirty years and heading the West Yorkshire Police VIP unit, for the last 8yrs of service, and prior to joining the Lieutenancy, he also toured the country as part of a team lecturing on Promotion Assessments, along with running assessment centres and taught ‘A’ level law at Royds and Rodillian Schhol having studied law at Leeds.

Kevin became Clerk to the Lieutenancy, just in time to plan and co-ordinate the visit of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to West Yorkshire as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

He has also been fortunate in helping to co-ordinate two Royal Maundy Services

Kevin was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2016 and was Invested as a Lieutenant of The Royal Victorian Order HRH The Princess Royal at a Ceremony at Buckingham Palace on the 9th June 2018

Kevin and his wife Sue have a son and a daughter, and four grandchildren and one great granddaughter
