Prof. Terry Hodgkinson CBE, DL, D. Univ, C. Dir, FIOD, FCIOB, BSc (Hons)

Professor Terry Hodgkinson is passionate about great design, heritage and place; he is an advocate of continuous learning, training and personal development. He considers inspirational leadership a quality that influences growth and development of people in all aspects of their lives.

Terry’s career spans over 39 years in business with executive and non-executive experience in privately-owned, not-for-profit and government organisations. He led the Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward as its Chair for seven years, overseeing the Agency in growing the economy of Yorkshire and Humber with an annual budget of £350 million.

Since leaving Yorkshire Forward, Terry has launched his business branded “Inspiration for Industry, Education and Regeneration”, which he runs alongside The Alchemists Foundation, continuing to raise aspirations and create a platform for young people to acquire new skills and tools, shaping a positive future for our next generation be it on a business, professional or personal level.

Terry has the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve their goals and believes ‘change’ is the key to development and personal growth.

Terry has undertaken other new roles, including his appointment as Chair of NCFE, an awarding body for education in colleges and schools throughout the UK. He is also a Visiting Professor attached to the Business School at Leeds Metropolitan University and recently became a non-executive director of RESET Certificate Scheme Ltd.

Terry was honoured in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours List with a CBE for services to ‘business and regeneration’ and has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Chartered Director, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Huddersfield.

Terry continually strives to find that spark in everyone he meets which he believes will transpire into great things.
