Dr Linda Pollard is currently the Chair of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, one of Europe’s largest hospital trusts which employs around 15,000 staff and treats more than 1.5 million patients each year, with a turnover of approximately £1.2 billion. She is also a strong advocate for women in business and not only leads by example, but actively encourages and supports women in business to achieve their maximum potential through her work with An Inspirational Journey and the Two Percent Club.
Her impressive career began when she started her first business at the age of 23 and since then she has had tremendous success in both the public and private sectors.
In addition to her role at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, she is Regional Chairman of Coutts Bank Plc, a post she has held since 2008, and is Chair of An Inspirational Journey, an organisation which supports women to reach the top of their professions and seeks to increase participation of women on Boards.
She is also the National Chair of the Two Percent Club, a national organisation which brings together the top two percent of executive and non-executive women from across the country, with centres in Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and London. Encouraging and supporting women to achieve their maximum potential is a strong passion of Linda’s to which she is very committed.
Linda has previously held posts as Chairman of Health Commissioners NHS Airedale, Bradford and Leeds and before that NHS Leeds, the West Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority, Bradford District Care Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and was until 2013 Pro Chancellor and Chair of the University of Leeds, where she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in 2013. Before that she was the Regional Chairman of the Learning and Skills Council, which showed her passion for Education.
Until February 2011, Linda was on the Board of Welcome to Yorkshire and until June 2012 she was Deputy Chair of Yorkshire Forward (Regional Development Agency) and still continues her business connections across Yorkshire and the UK through An Inspirational Journey and RBS Group. Linda currently uses her business connections to encourage economic development and inward investment into Leeds and is leading the International Strategy for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust with UKTI and Healthcare UK and has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Jordan, with work continuing with Malta and Egypt.
In the private sector, as well as founding two successful businesses in women’s fashion and international marketing, she has worked in numerous director and managing director positions for high profile brands such as BMW, Puma (UK) and The Guardian Media Group (Real Radio).
Linda was a magistrate for 21 years and is a Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire. In June 2013, she was awarded a CBE for her contribution to business and the community in Yorkshire and also a Yorkshire Lifetime Achievement Award.
Linda is married with three children.
